Privacy
This is a personal blog. I want it to be as boring as possible from a privacy standpoint. Here's exactly what happens when you visit.
What gets collected
- Google Analytics 4 records anonymous traffic data: page views, language, content group, scroll depth (25/50/75/100%), and outbound link clicks. IP addresses are anonymised by GA4 by default.
- Giscus (the comments box) is loaded from giscus.app and hands off to GitHub if you choose to comment. Loading it sets cookies from those domains. If you never interact, no comment data is collected.
- Lyket (the reactions widget) records anonymous like counts per post.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which logs requests as part of normal CDN operation.
What does NOT get collected
- No advertising cookies. No remarketing. No ad personalisation.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
- No newsletters, no email capture, no behavioural profiling.
Your controls
- The cookie banner lets you Decline analytics cookies. If you do, GA4 runs in cookieless mode and most signals are dropped.
- If your browser sends Do Not Track, the analytics script is not loaded at all.
- Clear site data in your browser to revoke any choice and see the banner again.
Legal basis
Analytics consent is requested under GDPR / ePrivacy. Where required, Consent Mode v2 keeps analytics storage denied by default until you accept.
